[Win10 x64] Random BSODs.

Hi,

I custom built this pc almost a month ago. After three weeks it started having hiccups on start up. It got BSODs but after the automatic restarts it ran fine with no notable issues. I updates BIOS and all other motherboard driver. I ran Windows Memory Diagnostics without it finding any issues. I ran memtest86 without finding any issues either.

Today my computer froze and restarted which it has never done before. I checked the .dmp file and found something about a driver issue. So I ran the driver verifier and it created a .dmp file with the problem DRIVER_VERIFIER_DETECTED_VIOLATION. I can't find the specific driver it's having issues with.

Hello and welcome!

Test your RAM: Test RAM With Memtest86+ and update your PSX2 Controller driver as it dates back to 2013 and is likely not compatible with W10.

Also look for the updated versions of the drivers in red.

Note, I am aware that the system is under warranty, so just run Memtest86+ without removing any RAM sticks.

As mentioned by above, the driver which appears to have caused the Driver Verifier crash is related to your Dual Shock 3 driver.

The machine seems to be overclocked.
You need probably to reset the bios to its default settings, and wait new bsods...

By the way, the manual says "Always load the Optimized defaults after updating the BIOS or after clearing the CMOS values".
I read Qvibble updated the bios (to F7 version), but I'm not sure he loaded the optimized defaults.
Furthermore, there's a new BIOS, F8 5.45MB 2017/08/02:

I didn't know what was HT flaw, therefore I searched and found this: Major Hyper-Threading Flaw Destabilizes Intel Kaby Lake, Skylake CPUs (click).
And it seems Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700 CPU is part of the "kaby lake family".
A quote from that webpage:
a major Hyper-Threading flaw has been discovered that can destabilize Intel CPUs based on both Kaby Lake and Skylake — not something Intel needed on the heels of AMD’s new CPUs. The issue is reported to cause “unpredictable system behavior,” which could mean anything from corrupting data to outright system crashes.
And:
If you’re having a specific problem with a piece of software that cropped up once you moved to Kaby Lake or Skylake, we recommend shutting off Hyper-Threading and seeing if that resolves the problem. Hopefully motherboard manufacturers will have solutions ready to go sooner rather than later.
I think this second part means: until there's a new bios update.

I have updated as many drivers and I could in red text. I removed the on/off Apple charger and the scp drivers for my ps3 controller.

I tried to install the new BIOS update (F8) but it tells me that it is not compatible with x64 bit versions of Windows.

So far I have not had a BSOD or any other issue and thinking back I might have installed the scp drivers for my ps3 controller close to the first BSOD.
 
Nevermind the no BSOD part. I left my computer for 10 minutes and when I came back I had to log in again and no programs were open which means that it probably crashed. I did not recive a .dmp file for it though.
 
I was referring to these methods: it seems you can use @BIOS and QFLASH.
QFLASH allows you to update the bios prior to enter windows, whereas @BIOS allows you to update the BIOS through windows (it can search, find and install the new BIOS).

For the latest BSOD, try to install the latest driver of your Killer E2500 Gigabit Ethernet Controller: Killer Drivers Installation x64 (21 Aug 17) Version 1.4.1466 (click).

I guess it is the @BIOS method. I downloaded the updated and that is when it told me it is not compatible with x64 versions of windows after trying to run it after I extracted the update files.

For the BIOS, could you try also the qflash method?

I have now updated my Killer E2500 Gigabit Ethernet Controller and my BIOS version to F8. I updated my BIOS through the Gigabyte App Center with @BIOS.
 
I just tried to run Memtest86+ again but whenever I want to boot from my usb the screen goes black for half a second and comes right back to the list of bootable things.
 
I ran Memtest86+ for one or two passes during day. I later ran Memtest86+ for about 8 hours which resulted in 10 tests and 0 erros.
