New to this forum!
I dont know whats happened here on my computer.
The only thing that has changed is that there are some updates that has been install under a night a couple of days ago. I heard that the computer rebooted.
When i woke up anc checked it i were welcomed to the configure windows screen.
Since then windows update and everything else seems to be broken. Really annoying.

Browsed through the whole internet for all these kinds of errors, behaviors and symptoms.
Tried everything that are suggested but nothing works. I might need to just format C: and reinstall Windows 10 Pro.
Many years has passed since i installed it. Lots of junk has come and go on the computer.

When running sfc /scannow and Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth in administrative mode it says this:
C:\WINDOWS\system32>sfc /scannow

Windows Resource Protection could not start the repair service.

C:\WINDOWS\system32>Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool
Version: 10.0.19041.844

Image Version: 10.0.19045.3448

Error: 193

%1 är inte ett giltigt Win32-program.

The DISM log file can be found at C:\WINDOWS\Logs\DISM\dism.log

When i try to download and install two updates that are available they fail with error: (0x800700c1)
(KB5030300) and (KB5031041)

When i try to do a repair-upgrade install via official Windows 10 iso with setup.exe the installation wents through to the end until the dialog says the system soon reboots.
But then exits to desktop and says that the installation failed. Then after reboot everything are restored to previous state.
Error for the install is: 0x8007001F - 0x20006, Failed in the phase SAFE_OS and something about REPLICATE_OC

No success with Safe mode either. Tried booting with Windows 10 USB in repair mode and used sfc and dism that failed.
If i remember there is a message about cant start service repair and also something about protection.

I have thought of maybe that there exist some kind of Linux custom distro with that can be used to force repair this kinds of stuff.
I have a known good Windows 10 install in a VM if that helps if i need to copy files or compare.. though it is updated with these two updates i mentioned above.. with success.

I will happily provide with more data/info if needed!

Please help!

Hi and welcome to Sysnative,

Step 1. Download
56f31e53c97da-SFCFix.PNG
SFCFix and save it to your desktop.

Warning: This fix was written specifically for this system. Do not run this fix on another system.
  • Save any work you have open, and close all programs.
  • Download the attachment SFCFix.zip and save it to your desktop.
  • Drag the SFCFix.zip file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it.

  • SFCFix will launch, let it complete.
  • Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt.
  • Post the logfile (SFCFix.txt) as attachment in your next reply.

Step 2. Run the following DISM command and post the result. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS log.
Code:
DISM /online /cleanup-image /RestoreHealth

Thank you for your fast reply!
I really appreciate it!

Run the dism-command. No errors but no status either.. it took a couple of seconds then it rebooted the computer. Stated something about the updates couldnt be installed so it rolled back.
Then i had to choose language. Windows booted up fine then though.

Windows update told me now that there are updates.. i clicked retry again and install.. now updates are installing without error.
So, right now it seems that your magic worked. I really want to learn how to fix similiar issues in the future if its fails again for me or anyone else.

Do you recommend me to try do the upgrade-repair from windows iso or just let my computer alone? :)

Can you please tell me shortly what the issue was or is? My guess is that there is some kind of permission issue with the component-files.

Here are the logfiles!

Great, the fix completed successfully. So let's hope DISM will run without any issues this time.

Please check my last post.. ive edited it.

So.. i got some issues again. Two of three updates where successfully installed.
The one that failed was (KB5030300). It downloaded and installed. Told me to restart computer i did.
When starting up it told me that updates failed and was rolling back the changes. Then i was in a boot-loop a coupple of times with the same updates failed..
Once booted up normally again i re-run the dism-command with issues.

This is what the command gave me:

C:\WINDOWS\system32>DISM /online /cleanup-image /RestoreHealth

Deployment Image Servicing and Management tool
Version: 10.0.19041.844

Image Version: 10.0.19045.3448

Error: 0x800f081f

The source files could not be found.
Use the "Source" option to specify the location of the files that are required to restore the feature. For more information on specifying a source location, see Configure a Windows Repair Source.

The DISM log file can be found at C:\WINDOWS\Logs\DISM\dism.log

I will attach the CBS, DISM and Components logs.

When opening windows update there is a post telling me that the KB5030300 can be downloaded and installed. if i want. but i assume if i try again it will be downloaded, installed, rebooted and then failed.. etc.
There were an error code that i dont remember what it was. It was similiar to the first one but the error code ending was different. Might be in a logfile somewhere.

I created a windows update logfile via setupdiag.exe that parsed the error-log.
I will attatch it.

Error: SetupDiag reports Optional Component installation failed to open OC Package.
Last Phase: Finalize
Last Operation: Remove System Restore checkpoints
Package Name: Foundation
Error: 0x8007001F
Recommend you check the "Windows Modules Installer" service (Trusted Installer) is started on the system and set to automatic start, reboot and try the update again. Optionally, you can check the status of optional components on the system (search for Windows Features), uninstall any unneeded optional components, reboot and try the update again.

Refer to "Fix Windows Update errors via DISM or System Update Readiness tool - Windows Server" for possible remediation information.

SetupDiag found 1 matching issue.

There's no need to perform an in-place upgrade at this point.

The issue was a corrupt Servicing Stack, in this particular case (SSU-19041.3505) which is a part of the latest preview update (KB5030300). Preview updates are beta releases and may contain bugs which can cause problems like this.

There is still a file corrupted, so please perform the following again.

Step 1.
Warning: This fix was written specifically for this system. Do not run this fix on another system.

  • Download the attachment SFCFix.zip and save it to your desktop.

DISM went through successfully, please see my last post also. It seems that i post between your post and mine :)
The post was about Windows update and logs. I attatched the log for the fail using SetupDiag.exe from microsoft.

Do i need to run any commands or programs as this point? I havent tried SFC again.
Why are that beta update failing to install but not on my install in my VM? I guess the configurations etc are different. And will fail or work from case to case.

That's difficult to say. I would suggest to update again, and when it fails just post the CBS logs, but don't do anything else or run any other tool..

As it seems, the update installed successfully also after reboot it continued to install. Success.
Run sfc also with success.

So it seems that everything works as it should now!
Many thanks to you!

I will return in the future if im stuck again.
Im quite good at analyzing logs and try stuff myself. But sometimes im stuck and need some expertise :)

Hi,

You're welcome. Glad to hear everything is up and running again...(y)
I will mark this thread as solved then.
