Hi everyone,

A couple of weeks ago I updated Windows 10, as soon as it was done, my display started flashing non-stop. I thought it was a graphics card issue so I rolled back the drivers, updated, nothing worked. I disabled one, changed cables, and changed monitors. Eventually I found out that It's not the card but the update. I've tried chkdsk and I got the "HRESULT = 0x800f081f - CBS_E_SOURCE_MISSING" message.

If anyone can help, I'd appreciate it greatly!

thanks in advance.

Re: HRESULT = 0x800f081f - CBS_E_SOURCE_MISSING

It appears there are a few instances of this problem on the forum, I think I'll try the registry thing and see if that makes a difference. If it doesn't, I'll go with the repair option.

Hi polyjunky. :welcome:

Did you try the usual sfc /scannow command from an elevated command prompt? What was/is the result of it?

Re: HRESULT = 0x800f081f - CBS_E_SOURCE_MISSING

Hi xilolee, I got this:

Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.

Beginning verification phase of system scan.
Verification 100% complete.

Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

Ok I tried deleting the Reg files, running sfcfix.exe.

Still giving me the error.

The source files could not be found.
Use the "Source" option to specify the location of the files that are required to restore the feature. For more information on specifying a source location, see Configure a Windows Repair Source.

The DISM log file can be found at C:\WINDOWS\Logs\DISM\dism.log

Not sure what to do now.

Re: HRESULT = 0x800f081f - CBS_E_SOURCE_MISSING

Maybe the windows update experts could help with that.
Moved to windows update sub-forum.

Re: HRESULT = 0x800f081f - CBS_E_SOURCE_MISSING

I forgot to add experts want to see your CBS and DISM logs, therefore you should copy them, then zip them and upload them here (also with an external service like dropbox, google drive, onedrive, etc).

I did repair Windows 10 and it didn't fix the problem. I also tried the other PCIe slot. I'm going to have to do a clean install but of Windows 7. Windows 10 Update has messed up my PC never should have upgraded.
