Hello,
I am an owner of a 6 months old Acer Aspire 3 NX.GNPEP.007 240SSD that recently refused to cooperate.

I tried resetting the computer (I don't care about the files) - unsuccessfully.
I checked the minidump with a poor result: "Probably caused by : ntkrnlmp.exentkrnlmp.exe ( ( nt!HvpValidateLoadedBin+0nt!HvpValidateLoadedBin+0 ) )"
I updated the drivers from the Acer website (at least those that did not require win installer or the internet).
I tried updating windows and it's supposedly up to date.
I performed the CBS scan with it pointing at 5 problems embedded within windows itself, and through which I found this site and people with similar problems.
I couldn't run the sfcfix.exe, because I need to be in the safe mode in order for the laptop to not die. And for some reason networking does not mean internet connection (excuse my ignorance).

And for some additional context: Ever since the system started torturing me for an update (could've been a few weeks), I was not properly shutting the laptop down. Instead I was just snoozing it with the lid.
I don't remember it ever updating but the system ensures it is up to date. Just to make sure here is the build: "17134.rs4_release.180410-1804"

I am not a computer guy and at this point I'm running out of ideas. I would appreciate it, if someone could find the time to resolve this issue.

Hello and welcome! Since you are experiencing BSODs, let's do some checking first:

GSmartControl
Follow the instructions below to test your hard drive health with GSmartControl:

  • Download GSmartControl and save it on your Desktop;
  • Execute gsmartcontrol.exe; Let the install complete and launch the programme.
  • Identify your drive in the list, and double-click on it to bring up it's window (usually you'll find your drive by it's size or it's brand name);
  • Go in the Perform Tests tab, then select Extended Self-test in the Test type drop-down list and click on Execute (this test can take a few hours to complete);
  • Once the test is over, the results will be displayed at the bottom of the window. Please copy and paste these results in your next reply;
  • Also, go in the Attributes tab and if you have any entries highlighted in red or pink, take a screenshot of the GSmartControl window and attach it in your next reply;
    info_failing.png

I have performed the scan twice, and both times it got stuck at 10% and ETA 0s.

"That file isn't here anymore"
I apologize for ghosting the thread, life happened and I couldn't manage. Would it be possible for you to upload this file again? I promise I will download it right away this time.

I have repeated all the steps as instructed. For some reason it was especially difficult to reboot the pc in safe mode in order to run the RAM scan. After I managed to do so it looked like windows explorer was resetting every 15 or so seconds (things affected: win+r, file explorer, desktop; things unaffected: notepad, GSmartControl).
And so I performed two additional scans (the dates are different so it should be easy to differentiate). GSmartControl scan got terminated along with the "reset" of the winexplorer so that's a different outcome for sure.

All the files necessary in the zip folder attached.
