Hello, I am hoping that you will be able to help with an issues with win10 update issue (I believe). The issue is a present is that following an update windows failed to launch. I have attempted to sort this but with no joy. I am limited by not having sufficient understanding of DISM and SFC to be able to make any headway.
The situation is complicated as it comes on the back of a motherboard failure on another computer. This meant that I put the old drive with a new board which did not work. Thinking the drive was dead I put a new drive in with a new operating system and found that the old drive was not booting but would run my sons gaming OK. So did that whilst I had time to sort out a proper fix.... Until now.
So not able to boot at all and out of ideas. Really need someone who knows their way round this.
Thanks.
- Run Chkdsk - checked out OK
- Went through the Windows Repairs which could not fix the problem
- Run SFC - initially found errors that could not fix
- Ran DISM - got to about 12 percent
- Ran the SFC and DISM with offline using a windows image downloaded and then copied. Then did the same but mounted the image. Got to 30% and then failed in the same place both times using a different image source (ISO and copied Wim)
- Am running a backup system of Windows (PE I think) from USB which is loaded in memory to be able to access this system/disks etc have internet functionality.
- Ran the forum .exe file but it stated that there was no corruption.
