Hello,

currently facing some trouble with my Windows Server 2016. It runs as a VM via Hyper-V on another Windows Server 2016. After making some windows updates, rebooting fails to a bluescreen.

Already mounted the VHD on the physical machine (mounted as i:) and tried to solve the error by DISM /image:i: /cleanup-image /restorehealth , worked for some files, but there are still 9 corrupt ones.

DISM leaves the error, that the source files can't be found. Adding a source to some other Windows Server 2016 images won't work.

DISM log is attached.

Anyone got a clue what to do?

Thanks in advance!

Hello,

just mangaged to fix the DISM error with the corrupt files, /scanhealth now says that everything is fine, LOG attached.

Unfortunately, the VM-server is still not booting.

Anyone got an idea what else I can do?

Please do the following:

  • On a clean machine, please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to a flash drive.

Note: You need to download the version compatible with your machine i.e. 32-bit or 64-bit.

Plug the flashdrive into the infected PC.
  • Enter System Recovery Environment Command Prompt:

    Instructions for Windows 10
    Instructions for Windows 8
    Instructions for Windows 7
  • Once in the Command Prompt:
    • In the command window type in notepad and press Enter.
    • The notepad opens. Under File menu select Open.
    • Select "Computer" and find your flash drive letter and close the notepad.
    • In the command window type e:\frst (for x64 bit version type e:\frst64) and press Enter
      Note:
Replace letter e with the drive letter of your flash drive.
    • The tool will start to run.
    • When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
    • Press Scan button.
    • It will make a log (FRST.txt) on the flash drive. Please attach it to your reply.
