Win 7 Ultimate, x64 Windows Update error 80070490 installing KB3121212/KB3121918

Lenovo THinkpad T520, 8 gb ram, 500 gb SSD, 500 gb hard drive. Recently replaced failing hard drive with mSata SSD (Samsung 850). Install and clone ran fine using Samsung utilities.
After first boot I noticed that the Windows Update history seemed to be gone and it was looking for all new updates, but once that ran for a while, the system was fine. Fast forward a few weeks and one day Windows update did not complete and displayed the error in the title trying to install both updates. No matter what I do, neither update will install. I've tried unchecking the "Other MS updates" as I've read in some similar articles on the web, but no success. Now I can't get the updates for other MS products to run either.

CBS log files too large, I tried to upload them (237 mb). SFCFix.txt attached. Following instructions for large files now.

This tool will take some time to complete - when it has finished, attach C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log with your reply.
