Hi,

Win 7 to 10 32 bit in place upgrade fails with:

0x8007001F - 0x20006
The installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during REPLICATE_OC operation

sfc /scannow is clean

ran surt, sfcfix says that there were 20 surt corruptions:
SFCFix version 3.0.2.1 by niemiro. Start time: 2020-02-19 21:00:17.061 Microsoft Windows 7 Service Pack 1 - x86 Not using a script file. CBS logs and Panther setup logs are here:

In the meantime, I am going to run SYMNRT again (it had Norton) and also do a chkdsk because I saw some "found" files in c:\

Question: When I restart the update, do I delete the $WINDOWS.~BT and $Windows.~WS folders before I start?

Thanks.

Nope. Norton gone (was removed previously from control panel, did symnrt again for good measure). Disk checks out. Same error again. Please help. Thanks.

should have mentioned it's win7 Pro.

I went ahead and ran FRST.

Also there are 3 other almost identical PC's to this one, same hardware, same originally installed software. Those were upgraded OK. This one is a problem.

Question: I make it a practice to always run sfc/scannow and check Windows Update for any failed updates before I attempt a Win 10 in place upgrade. Should I also run surt? Because this PC passed sfc but has surt issues... Just wondering...

So.... Norton is gone (defender is on tho, don't want to leave it completely unprotected), chkdsk is normal disk checks out...

Thanks.

Hi,

Thank you for your reply. The user of this PC is currently under deadline to finish something so I may not be able to do this for a few more days. I will keep you posted.

In the meantime I have a question. Do you have a standard procedure to follow before doing an in place upgrade 7 to 10? I always do sfc /scannow and check for failed updates first, but here this was obviously not enough. If you could point me in the right direction I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks again.

Thank you. Here are the results.

Step#1 - FRST Fix
NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to your operating system
1. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.
Note: You need to run the 32-bit Version so please ensure you download that one.
2. Download the attached fixlist.txt and save it to the Desktop.
Note. It's important that both files, FRST and fixlist.txt are in the same location or the fix will not work (in this case...the desktop).
3. Run FRST by Right-Clicking on the file and choosing Run as administrator.
4. Press the Fix button just once and wait. If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
5. When finished FRST will generate a log on the Desktop (Fixlog.txt). Please post the contents of it in your reply.

Then retry the upgrade.

Thanks again.

Fixlog.txt attached.

I cannot attempt the upgrade now because the user still needs the PC. Will try soon.
