Hi everybody.
My Windows 7 SP1 x64 used to boot up normally (quickly) before but after reinstalling it on the same PC with the same BIOS settings, the boot up time has increased about 20-25 seconds. And this is only due to the waiting period during the text "Starting Windows" before the 'flying' Windows logo appears.
I know - nothing compared to all the violence and wars in the world but this is just weird and annoying and I have no idea that what the heck my PC/Windows is doing during that 'extra' period. Earlier the Win logo appeared in just 1-3 seconds.
After the Windows logo appears, my PC continues booting up very quickly. The logo stays static only 1-2 seconds and then the Windows 7 OS desktop loads perfectly, so there's nothing else wrong except that irritating ~20 seconds that feels like an hour.
I don't know that what log files to attach here so this text is all I can give You now before I get some further instructions.
My Hardware is like this:
- MSI Z77A-GD65 motherboard
- Sandisk SSD as a drive C - Windows OS is installed in there
- RAID0 configuration of 3 HDD's as the drive D. My User Profile +95% of software is in there
- 16GB of DRAM (can't remember the brand)
- Intel i7 processor @ 4,5GHz w/ 4 hardware cores -> 8 virtual altogether
- IDE settings on BIOS instead of AHCI
- Internal graphics adapter (disabled) + external AMD Radeon HD 5700 (both displays active)
- All Windows updates installed + all the newest drivers
I have tried booting without ANY extra hardware connected to the PC but no difference. IDE mode instead of AHCI might have something to do with this but it DID boot up quickly / normally before, also with IDE settings applied.
Do You SysInternals gurus have some idea about what might cause this? I really love your site like everybody else and I would appreciate any kind of help. I can share my BIOS settings later via Windows' MSI BIOS application if that would help.
Thank You all and happy post-Christmas time and forthcoming new year 2016!
Sincerely, Tommi Tiihonen
