I normally can fix my own PC (and have done so for years...) but this has me stumped.

Lately, my PC "crashes" any time it tries to SLEEP, HIBERNATE or HYBRID SLEEP.

It was working just fine a month ago and earlier when SLEEPING, however, I did have HYBRID SLEEP disabled since my mouse/keyboard would not 'wake up' after coming out of hybrid sleep.

Now, my PC crashes with the following BSOD details:

A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
The problem seems to be caused by the following file: ntoskrnl.exe
DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE
If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:
Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer for any Windows updates you might need.
If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup Options, and then select Safe Mode.

My system details:

  • Windows 7 Home Premum, x64 (original installed OS), Service Pack 1
  • OS was pre-installed on system
  • Age of system: 2 years (bought 2/13/2013)
  • Age of OS installation: same (never re-installed)
  • CPU: Intel i7-3770 @ 3.40GHz
  • Video Card: AMD Radeon HD 7870 2Gb
  • MotherBoard: Gigabyte GA-Z77-HD3 rev 1
  • Power Supply: Corsair CMPSU-600 CX V2
  • System Manufacturer: CyberPowerPC

Attached is the SysnativeFileCollectionApp archive, but Performance Monitor "hangs" any time I try to run "perfmon /report" from an elevated prommpt. (I have left it 'not responding' for over an hour)

Love to see what you can tell me!

TIA!

Your Realtek ethernet drivers are the cause of the crash, and likely due to the fact that they're so old.

GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 1155 - GA-Z77-HD3 (rev. 1.0)

Download/install the Realtek LAN driver (2012).

Thank you, but I DO HAVE the latest Realtek Ethernet driver installed that Gigabyte has listed for this motherboard:

Realtek LAN Driver 7.049.0927.2011 3.48 MB 2012/03/21

i.e. the '2012' driver is actually a '2011' driver.

I'll try installing the latest PCIe GBE driver from Realtek's download site:
Realtek

Finally got back to 'work' .... I updated my RealTek Ethernet driver to the 2014 driver, but now trying to put the computer to SLEEP just keeps it running; i.e. it doesn't sleep. The monitor goes to sleep, but the fans and hard drive keep running. And, it doesn't 'wake' up with the mouse or keyboard either. I have to press 'reset' to get the system back 'up.'View attachment 10979

Update - ALL IS WELL! I reset the settings to default in my Power Profile and everything is working fine now; even Hyrbrid Sleep which I had to disable before.

thanks!
