Explanation
I recently factory reset my Dell Inspiron Laptop running Windows 7 due to some problems I was having a hard time figuring out how to fix. It seems everything has fixed with the reset except for a problem whenever I attempt to play game on my PC. The PC has the proper specs to run the game, yet whenever I try playing, my FPS is fine for about 30 seconds, then they drop so low for 30 seconds, and this just keeps happening. I decided to check out what was going on in the background, so I opened task manager to see if anything was wrong and saw in the performance tab that whenever the FPS in game would drop, the CPU was sky rocketing to 70-90%. I then went into resource monitor to see what was causing that and discovered that audiodg.exe, and NT Kernel & System was using so much CPU.
Steps I Have Taken
I have done some research and everything I found to fix audiodg.exe is to go to my playback devices > properties > enhancements > disable all sound effects which did not work at all
For the NT Kernel & System, I, with no success, went into services.msc and disabled/stopped the following: Background Intelligent Transfer Service, Superfetch, Windows Search, and Windows Update. I also went into regedit and decreased the data values of superfetch and prefetch from 3 to 1.
Any help would be appreciated.
