Hello everyone,

I want to say thanks to anyone reading this. This community seems very helpful and knowledgeable so I hope someone can help me keep my sanity. I have been troubleshooting this problem for almost two days now.

Background that may help understand the log files:
-the previous “IT-guy” was told that it the system had to run smoothly (well, yeah..). So what did he do in his wisdom? Disable all updates because when nothing changes/updates, then it can’t break…I’ve installed all updates since the vanilla version in monthly cycles (meaning: all 07/2016 updates --> all 08/2016 updates and so on. Searching for updates after each reboot)
-when there were only 3 faulty updates (two of which I cleared since then) we tried upgrading to win 10. It failed.

So much for the history.

SFCFix Script

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.


  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Download the file below, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
  5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.

I rebooted, installed KB3133977, reeboot, KB 890830 became available, installed that, reboot, no more updates available.

  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Download the file below, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.

I attached the cbs-log.

I rebooted again, did the sfc scan again and now it says that there are no more problems! It didn't even need to fix anything!
