I have Win 10 x64.

When I open the Windows Store, the Calculator or any Store Apps they flash on screen then disappear.
SFC /scannow found errors it can't fix.
DISM runs but can't find the files despite pointing the source to a mounted Windows 10 install discs (virtually mounted, not on DVD or USB).

I tried several MS trouble shooting solutions and several solutions posted here but nothing worked.

Can you help?

Thanks.

Hi gramatter, and welcome to the forums ...

Just to cover all the bases, I imagine you've already tried the Windows 10 Apps Troubleshooter?
Run the troubleshooter for Windows apps - Windows Help -

And to rule out any trouble with repairs in a virtual environment ... why not try the DISM with a local DVD?

I imagine that you've already tried the PowerShell tactic of reinstalling the built-in Windows 10 apps?
How to reinstall default apps in Windows 10 - CNE

And, if the problem is fairly recent, (and if none of the above helps) ... do you have a restore point from before the trouble started (which of course would allow a System Restore to work)?

And, if none of the above brings a solution, what errors do you see in Event Viewer that are concurrent with the misbehaving apps?

It's rather odd that most of the worst behaving features of Windows 10 are the built-in apps.... A pity, since the operating system itself is fairly nice.

[P.S..... if we can't find a quick solution for you here, I'll send you over to our Windows Update forum, where we have some experts at running a special method for fixing file corruptions that SFC/DISM have trouble with ... they call it SFCfix ... ]

Thanks for getting back to me.

Yes, I've tried all of the above. I even found a Forum that suggested that an MS TechBench ISO would work better than the regular Win 10 ISOs. From what I can see the TechBench ISO is version 10.0.10586 while my OS is version 10.0.10240. I can't see DISM working with that.

If you could refer me to the other group that would be terrific.

Thanks again.

Too bad that the easy repairs didn't work. Here's a link to our Windows Update forum here at SysNative
https://www.sysnative.com/forums/windows-update/

Let them know I referred you, and that both sfc /scannow, and DISM didn't work... especially that sfc found but couldn't fix corruptions. They'll likely walk you through the exact steps for your system to use SFCfix.

Good luck!
