My Win 10 Pro Build 1511, Desktop and Taskbar icons work fine, but when switching to Tablet Mode or use Desktop Menu, tiles will pick up link, but right after starting up they go POOF. I haven't used the tiles recently, so I can't tell when this started.

Running on Administration Command Prompt:

SFC /scannow = No Errors
dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth = No Errors
Rebuild_Icon_Cache.bat = No Change
chkdsk C: /f = clean

There was one Microsoft tool, I can't find it again, result was "Service Registration is missing or corrupt"

Belarc Advisor shows missing "critical" Microsoft Security Update (KB2919355). But that's for Win 8, this is Win 10. I don't think I should even think of trying to install that one Security update.

Any ideas?

Hey John,

I will advise you to remove all 3rd party antivirus software installed on your machine and than rebuild the Windows 10 metro with this procedure:

This procedure is created by Rod Trent :

1. Run PowerShell as an Administrator.

2. Run the following PowerShell command: Get-Appxpackage –Allusers

3. When the command completes, you'll be presented with a long list of installed apps. Use the PowerShell window Find feature and search for WindowsStore.

4. Locate the PackageFullName and copy it.

5. Now, use the Add-AppxPackage command to reinstall the Windows Store. Use the following command:Add-AppxPackage -register "C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\<PackageFullName>" –DisableDevelopmentMode
In my case, the Add-AppxPackage command line is:
Add-AppxPackage -register "C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.WindowsStore_2015.8.25.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe\AppxManifest.xml" -DisableDevelopmentMode

Thanks for the suggestions but I decided last night to just refresh my PC without affecting my files, and boy! I am glad I did. Took less time to just replace the major software that I need to do my work, everything worked like a charm. I think that is the best way to go and I did waste a lot of time and energy just in trying to get the upgrade to work, this Refresh is essentially like a new computer. And it is easy to do and effortless, but you need to have all of your License Codes and Passwords for your old software or you are in trouble.
