WiFi is on but no internet via LAN

Hello folks,


I am having some issue with the internet via LAN cable/port and I need some help or advice how to solve this issue. I went almost all options using different cables and other computers but only one is not working properly. The WiFi is okay but the internet via LAN cable is not working.

For some unknown reason, the problem computer does not recognize that there is a cable attached.

Before I jump to the conclusion that the NIC has died, please do 4 things:
1. Disconnect or disable the wifi
2. Plug in an ethernet cable and run the ipconfig again. Does it still say media disconnected?
3. Post if you see any lights at the ethernet cable port.
4. Open Device Manager and open Network adapters. Are there any Red Xs or Yellow !'s? Also post the network adapters listed. You can skip the miniport and Teredo Tunneling.

different cables and other computers

Different cables with different computers would certainly point to the Ethernet switch you are attaching these computers to. This switch is most likely integrated into your router. Individual Ethernet ports on these switches can go bad too. So along with the advice given by plodr, be sure to try a different Ethernet port on the switch too - then look for those lights to indicate network activity.
