[SOLVED] Wi-Fi Frequency Analyzer Software?

Is there any way to use my computer to determine what frequencies my neighbors are using for their Wi-Fi routers? I know smart phones have apps that will do this, but I do not have an android-based phone. I may ask my girlfriend to use hers tonight after she gets home from work.

Just some background: We had new neighbors move into our apartment building last week, and now my video streaming device is giving me a "Network is down" error message. At first, I thought it was the device itself that was failing, but upon further thought, I realized the problems started when the neighbors moved in. I have changed my frequency today to see if that helps, but it would be nice to know what frequency I can change to that no one around me is using.


Is there software available for laptops to detect Wi-Fi frequencies?

Thanks Stephen and John. I ended up going with inSSIDer, but the WMI script would have worked. I prefer inSSIDer to the output of the script since it is easier to visualize.

I'm now on channel 2, and I'm the only one using that channel. Unfortunately, I do still have some overlap from neighbors on 1-5, but that can't be avoided in an apartment complex of this size. I'm at least in the band with the smallest amplitude of overlap now.

I didn't try Wi-Fi Inspector | Xirrus since I found inSSIDer on my own shortly after posting here. I think I found it around the same time Stephen posted. :lol:
