Hi I'm new on this forum, i need help for a problem on my home server 2011, win update suddenly stop working and return error 80072713, in the technet microsoft they told to rename the folder %windir%\softwareDistribution and launch again win update.
No effect for me.
Second, i found that i need to install this Windows6.1-KB947821-v34-x64 could solve problem but install return error 0x8007000d and won't install at all.
third always on technet i see that sfc /SCANNOW could solve problem but on my server SFC won't launch.
I found on this forum this subject :
https://www.sysnative.com/forums/wi...tion-sfc-doesnt-work-windows-update-wont.html This seems to be similar issu but i don't apply any recommandation in the link before cause it's indicate that solution was for specific case.

So i open my own post for my problem.

Hi and welcome to Sysnative. I'd like to take a look at your COMPONENTS hive. Please do the following.

Retrieve Components Hive
1. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file.
2. Please copy this file to your desktop.
Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again.
3. Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To...Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop.
4. The file will likely be too large to upload here so please upload to SendSpace and just provide the link here.

Second, i found that i need to install this Windows6.1-KB947821-v34-x64 could solve problem but install return error 0x8007000d and won't install at all.
specific case.

I dl this Kb again than it works without error.

Unfortunately I've verified my suspicions. Your COMPONENT hive is corrupt beyond repair. Do you happen to have any backups of your server? If so, we may be able to aquire a good copy to use.

I've got a backup, but do you think system restauration would work with this error...
And is there a possibility to know the date of corruption.
Cause I hope my backup is before corruption occured.

Unfortunately the file was so severely damaged I couldn't determine a date. Maybe you can retrieve the c:\windows\system32\config\COMPONENTS file from a week ago?

Ok thx for your help, i 've got a backup one month ago, i think i'll take this one, i will restore only system.
I'll make you a return post restoration.

I've got an other question for you i've got multiple backups of the serveur, how can i see if the components file is corrupt. because i want to restore but not to loong time befor corruption.?

If you want you can send them to me and I can check if they are corrupt. It's not something I suggest you do unless you're familiar with the ramifications of mounting the COMPONENTS hive on your machine.

ok it'mounting file in regedit with load hive...But unfortunately i can't load it in Win8.1 option is grey for me . I'll give you different version of file, really thank you very much for your help and time.
