Microsoft sent out invitations today for a one-hour event to be held in San Francisco on October 20, which will be hosted by the company's CEO Satya Nadella, as well as Scott Guthrie, Executive Vice President for Cloud and Computing. It will start at 11:00 PT, and will be available to watch on the
Microsoft News Center site.
Rod Trent of
Windows IT Pro says that he expects to hear a 'State of the Union'-type update on Microsoft's progress in the cloud. But as he points out, that's the kind of thing that's unlikely to require the CEO to turn up for an event, when such a simple update could easily be issued as a press release or online video. Given the invite's focus on "what's ahead", and the presence of Satya Nadella, expect to hear some announcements related to Microsoft cloud services.
