YouTube can be a great place. Whether you want to have a laugh at the famous keyboard cat, learn to cut a mango, or watch step by step how to download your AVG Internet Security software, you can view it all there!
However, with the availability of so many videos and the incredible volumes of traffic the site receives, it shouldn’t come as any surprise that cybercriminals are looking to reap some benefit.
YouTube visitors therefore must be wary of links that come with videos; and should be especially wary of videos that turn out to be graphics directing them to specific links on the page.
The example included below “only” had a survey scam on it, but an earlier version (which was taken down shortly after it was first detected by AVG LinkScanner®) led to a site loaded with the powerful Blackhole Exploit Kit.
