[SOLVED] [W8.1Upd3 x64] Error Installing Software that uses a Driver. FIX: WIN REFRESH

Re: Error Installing Software that uses a Driver

What happens when you try to install it?

What is the error message?

Do you have the most recent version of the software?

Re: Error Installing Software that uses a Driver

Hi there, when I try to install the software, it's downloaded as an exe launcher to install it. the launcher gets as far as setting the directory path for the installiation files. Once I get past this and it should begin to install it comes up with the error message of:
database: C\windows\installer\inprogressinstallinfo.ipi cannot open database file system error -2147286788. It then closes.
I have tried installing the most recent version from the CAM website as well as trying to use a few older versions which also come up with the same issue.

Re: Error Installing Software that uses a Driver

Hello,

1. Right-click This PC --> Properties --> Advanced System Settings --> Select the Advanced tab --> Select Environment Variables

2. In the section titled "User Variables for Administrator" edit the TEMP and the TMP values to be the following:

Variable Name: TEMP Variable Value: %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temp

Variable Name: TMP Variable Value: %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temp

Let me know how it goes.

Changed both variables and still receiving the same error.

I've tried changing the variables to yours, the same result.

Bumping this, does anyone have an idea on what else could be done?

From an elevated command prompt, launch this command (and post the results of it):
((cd /d %appdata%\..\local && icacls temp && dir /ad /q) > "%userprofile%\desktop\icacls.txt") & notepad "%userprofile%\desktop\icacls.txt"

Re: [W8.1Upd3 x64] Error Installing Software that uses a Driver

It seems ok.
Try a right-click on the installer and "run as administrator".

Are you currently using a standard account or an administrator account?

Re: [W8.1Upd3 x64] Error Installing Software that uses a Driver

tried running as admin before and as far as im aware an admin account.

Re: [W8.1Upd3 x64] Error Installing Software that uses a Driver

Just checked I am on an admin account as well.

Re: [W8.1Upd3 x64] Error Installing Software that uses a Driver

No, I successfully installed it on W10 x64 latest version (although it wanted I log in with facebook, google+ or with their account, but I skipped everything).

Error 0x8007007b seems a windows activation error.
Is your windows license activated? (check control panel, system)

Launch these commands from an elevated command prompt and report their results here:
dism /online /cleanup-image /checkhealth
sfc /scannow
