[SOLVED] [W7SP1Pro x64] Unable to update

I am unable to update few of the updates on my i3-3217U x64 ASUS laptop since quite a time now. 2015 to be precise
1:Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB3060716) - published 8/11/2015
2:Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB3071756) - published 20153:Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB3126587)- published 2016
4:Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB3068708)- published 2015
5:Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB3080149)- published 2015

Please guide me through. i have most of the time kept Laptop over windows update for 24hours and it will still appear that they failed. I received a new update recently which is not in list anymore . This update errors haunts me to restarts the laptop at all. keeping device in SLEEP mode always.

I tried the instructions given by windows update forum and Step 3 where it asked me to download a 534MB windows fix file was run and went till then

  1. sfc /scannow
  2. Once the command finishes, if you see "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations" then please move on to Step #3.
Windows Vista/Windows 7/Server 2008/Server 2008R2
1. Download and run the appropriate package for your operations system from this link.
2. When it asks you if you wish to install, please answer yes. Note: It could take 15 minutes or more to run. Please don't cancel.
3. You will get an Installation Complete screen when it's done running.


I went till this step and then i tried installing updates last night with complete success and i checked windows update in morning with no major updates. I came to office few hours ago and Voila! to my surprise same update required again ..... these 5 updates are giving me a hard time.

Due to the precise nature of your corruption, you will receive help from a user named softwaremaniac. He's one of our senior trainees here who's in his final phase of his studies and needs to gain some real world experience in specific areas of Windows Update. This means that he'll be assisting you, but that I will first need to double check and approve his fixes before he posts them to you. BrainDrab i can wait as long as the problem is solved by end of the troubleshoot. i will keep patience for both of u and softmaniac to keep the process tidy for me.

Please attach the log from the following location. C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log

the whole CBS folder is 67GB though. i have no idea whats init.

SFCFix Script

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.


  1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Download the file below, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
  5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please - put [CODE][/CODE] tags around the log to break up the text.


Afterwards, please run SURT again and attach CheckSUR.log

As for the CBS folder being so large, we'll take care of it once we sort out the corruption.

i am running Windows6.1-KB947821-v34-x64.msu file again for SURT and checksur.log again ... which usually takes 5-10min. i hope i am doing it right...

All the windows update failed as i left the lappy overnight and woke up to see the windows update again. its not allowing me to access or attach CBS.log at all.

i ran the SURT again and log shows no error detected

oops i found a way. copied it to desktop and i was able to upload it here

Correct.

Please attempt to install only one of the updates and when it fails attach a new CBS.log
