Hello,
First off sorry for originally posting this in the wrong place. But I'm pretty sure this is the appropriate thread now.
Anyway, I woke up this morning to find my desktop had obviously run into some complications during the night. The screen resolution was messed up, my nVidia control panel was not available and there appeared to be no driver installed when I ran GeExperience. Attempted re-install and reboot. Nothing. Figured I got a virus.
I ran Malwarebytes, and AVG. I went into safemode and ran them both again as well as Malwarebytes anti-rootkit utility and Hitmanpro. These turned up with nothing except for some cookies which I removed. At this point I assumed I did not have a virus and perhaps just a comp failure. Upon restarting and attempting to reboot into safemode, I could not use my keyboard to select a boot option without it cycling between all the options too fast for me to do anything. After a hard reset I let it boot into windows normally.
After a google search and a 'Duh' moment I ran cmd>sfc /scannow and it came up with quite a few errors. I found the sysnative utility SFCFix and ran that. This fixed all but two errors:
AutoAnalysis::
CORRUPT: C:\Windows\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-s..on-wizard-framework_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.17514_none_1478eaa56818c3c0\spwizimg.dll
CORRUPT: C:\Windows\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-setup-component_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.17514_none_905283bdc3e1d2d8\W32UIRes.dll
I was able to locate and download a .dll replacement for the first but I don't know how to use SFCFix to fix my issue. If someone could point me in the right direction or tell me how to install/replace a .dll file I would be very grateful. Thanks!
