Windows 10 update has been stuck for some time now. I am unable to download and/or install the new updates due to this code: 0x800703f1. At times the downloads complete but then during installation I will receive the message' Unable to Complete Updates, Uninstalling.

This is the update that will not install: KB4022727

I have tried the built-in Windows Update troubleshooting feature with no luck. I also tried all of the steps prescribed in the windows update section of this site:
scannow
SFC Fix

No errors were detected. All of the requested logs are attached.

I have also tried resetting PC and making a disk image of Windows to re-intall but in each case, I am prevented from completing the process.

I am using Windows 10 Home Edition on an Asus notebook with a x-64 based processor

Thank you for any assistance you can provide.

Re: Windows update problem Error Code 0x800703f1

Hello and welcome

Due to the precise nature of your corruption, you will receive help from a user named softwaremaniac. He's one of our senior trainees here who's in his final phase of his studies and needs to gain some real world experience in specific areas of Windows Update. This means that he'll be assisting you, but that I will first need to double check and approve his fixes before he posts them to you. If anything this is a good thing for you because it means that you've got at least two of us watching over your thread, but it will unfortunately add a slight delay between each reply. I hope that you understand and can accept the need for us to train up new members in this way in order to carry on doing what we do here, however, if for any reason you object to this setup, I will happily take on your thread myself.

Thank you very much for your understanding. We'll be with you very shortly.

Re: Windows update problem Error Code 0x800703f1

Hello and welcome!

SFC Scan

  1. Click on the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    sfc /scannow

Wait for this to finish before you continue

    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"
  4. This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please attach this to your next post.

Re: Windows update problem Error Code 0x800703f1

Thanks for the response. I apologize for my delay as I was traveling. I ran the scan. The cbs.txt file is attached as a link as the file size was too large for the forum.

Dropbox - cbs.txt

Thanks,
LABeagle

Re: Windows update problem Error Code 0x800703f1

Are you interested in upgrading to the latest Windows 10 Fall Creators Update that just got released? This will also very likely resolve your problem.

I am interested in any solution to end the problem. I have not been able to reinstall the current version Windows using a disk image. I have also been unable to reset the PC. If upgrading to Windows 10 Fall Creators can circumvent theses problems I am happy to do it.

Re: Windows update problem Error Code 0x800703f1

Please boot your computer into a Clean Boot state and do the following:

1. Download the Media Creation Tool to your desktop. Go ahead and run this. Note: Click the Download tool now button when you are at this link.
2. Accept the license agreement
3. Keep the default which is to Upgrade your PC and click Next.
4. Go ahead and run this through and let me know when complete.

Doing it this way will keep all your data and programs intact. As always though, make sure you have a backup of any critical data in case something unexpected happens.

Let me know how it goes.

Re: Windows update problem Error Code 0x800703f1

Hi, what type of printer do you have? Is it an HP OfficeJet?

Step#1 - FRST Scan

1. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.
Note: You need to run the 64-bit Version so please ensure you download that one.
2. Right click to run as administrator. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
3. Please ensure you place a check mark in the Addition.txt check box at the bottom of the form before running (if not already).
4. Press Scan button.
5. It will produce a log called FRST.txt in the same directory the tool is run from (which should now be the desktop)
6. Please attach the log back here.
7. Another log (Addition.txt) - also located in the same directory as FRST64.exe) will be generated Please also attach that along with the FRST.txt into your reply.
