5. windows fall edition (or whatever just came out last week) self installed
6. OS installed in August, have had no problems till 2 days ago
7. I have not reinstalled OS
8 . I7-7700k
9. G.SKILL TridentZ Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600)
10. power supply - power PC and cooling 800 watt
11. driver verifier is not enabled
12. using norton security suite
13. using pulse secure vpn but its rarely active
14. using no disk image tools
15. i am not overlclocking

Hi redrum448. :welcome:

Try a clean boot and see if the problem disappears:

• Start, searchbox, type msconfig, press enter
• Msconfig Services tab --> hide all Microsoft services and disable all the remaining services
• Msconfig Startup tab --> disable everything
• Click ok, reboot
