Hello !

So I've recently finished building my PC ( DIY with all brand new parts ).
For 1 week I've had NO problems whatsoever. But for a couple of days I've started experiencing audio popping, mouse lagging / skipping , during every type of use : simply moving the mouse across the desktop makes it "skip a frame" , audio pops in video / audio playback on youtube, chrome, media players, during games etc.
I've used LatencyMon to try and see what is causing it and found storport.sys ( sometimes others - dxgkrnl.sys ) .
I'd like to mention that I've installed all the drivers from the Mobo's manufacturer website with the latest versions multiple times, tried different "tips and tricks" from all over the web, but nothing seemed to help.
I'm posting the required reports and files .
Hope to get a fix on this, because it's driving me crazy.
Thank you !

Re: Latency issues caused by storport.sys and others

I'm seeing a possible conflict between the NVIDIA drivers and your HD Audio drivers. Have you tried disabling the audio device you are not using?

  • If you are using the Realtek audio, disable your NVIDIA HD Audio device.
  • If you are using your NVIDIA HD Audio, disable the Realtek Audio device.

You will find the audio devices in Device Manager under Sound, video and game controllers; right click the device you are not using and choose Disable device to disable the device.

Re: Latency issues caused by storport.sys and others

I've tried it and nothing changes. Thanks for the reply though.

Anyone else ?

Re: Latency issues caused by storport.sys and others

I've tried this possible fix :

See if using the Microsoft Storage Controller drivers in place of the Intel Storage Controller drivers makes a difference:

Replacing Intel AHCI drivers with standard Microsoft SATA drivers - Crucial Community

The Microsoft Driver might also be listed as Microsoft Storage Spaces Controller

and apparently the latency has toned down. storport.sys is no longer showing up in LatencyMon and the mouse stutter and audio/video popping stopped. Will see if it holds or if the problem returns.

Thank you for now ! :)
