Hi,
I have been having an issue for far too long. I would get both audio and video stutters (concurrently) in any application, be it YouTube browsing, Gaming, and even the basic Windows sounds. However, it's become unbearable, as now mainly the sound drops completely, and I can only get it back by restarting the Windows Audio Endpoint service, or drastic measures, by restarting my system.
Have tried literally hundreds of "fixes", which none have helped the issue.

Latencymon, claims dxgkrnl.sys, and nvlddmkm.sys, as the main culprits, though sometimes I have seen it randomly accompanied by one of these: ataport.sys, ntoskrnl.exe, USBPORT.SYS, CLASSPNP.SYS, Wdf01000.sys.

I feel I need to add that someone will undoubtedly say that my system, or parts therein, are "too old" and while it is aged, it still ran Windows 10 Creators with zero issues, up until (I suspect) a certain windows update, and I'm thinking it was around Nov-Dec. of 2016.

I suspect if this cannot be addressed, I may have to try downgrading to Anniversary, and opting out of Insider.

Re: DPC, ISR issues.

I should also add that I am running with dual displays, one 22" Samsung monitor on DVI, second is 55" Toshiba LED (main) through HDMI, and afaik, this issue is connected to the Nvidia HD. As my Realtek which I use only with a Tritton 5.1 headset through optical/USB (and currently disabled) does not have this issue.

Re: DPC, ISR issues.

Hi Pra3t0r 0f R0m3. :welcome:

Could you check and report here the values of dram frequency and xmp (extreme memory profile) in your BIOS?

EDIT
The QVL on your motherboard website says your model (check if I detected correctly your model) is supported.
Is this one? Patriot PVT36G1600LLK (XMP). Or am I wrong?
Specs: DDR3-1600 --- Capacity 6144MB (Kit of 3) --- DS --- Heat-Sink Package 8-8-8-24 (1067-7-7-7-20) 1.65V ● ●
The two big dots at the end of the specs mean:
  • A*: Supports two (2) modules inserted into slot A1 and B1 as one pair of Dual-channel memory configuration
  • B*: Supports three (3) modules inserted into the orange slots (A1, B1 and C1) as one set of Triple-channel memory configuration
Therefore, according to that, you should remove the three ram sticks in the black slots.

Re: DPC, ISR issues.

Hi xilolee,
Thank you for replying.
Going into bios, default was set on auto, however, setting the xmp, showed DRAM frequency at 1600MHz. I did notice when xmp was set though, the DRAM bus voltage was at 1.66, and in red, so I reduced it to 1.5 (standard)

Edit* I also noticed in Bios, that the Intel Speedstep was enabled, to which I disabled, as I have read it could cause latency issues. I'm definitely not a professional in this area, so I don't know.

Re: DPC, ISR issues.

Read my previous reply, I was editing it whereas you were replying.
By the way, you should also disable the xmp profile and run the slots in JEDEC2 (see speccy, ram section).

Re: DPC, ISR issues.

Strange on the slot config, as this is what Memory Express sold me, and they installed it, along with the CPU, when I purchased it. I bought the Mobo, Ram, and CPU/heatsink in one go.

I will however, go back in bios and set it to auto again as opposed to xmp.

Re: DPC, ISR issues.

It seems they didn't read carefully the qualified vendor list present on your motherboard website.
I can be sorry  for you about that , but I can't apologize for them (memory express). :thumbsdown2:

EDIT
"Better" models, present in your motherboard QVL and supported by your cpu, could be KINGSTON KVR1066D3N7/4G or SAMSUNG M378B5273BH1-CF8 - four modules only (16GB totally), according to the QVL.
They are "better" in the sense they seem to be (totally) supported by your motherboard and cpu, therefore they shouldn't cause strange problems (but reality is another thing).
Specs: DDR3-1067 (pc3-8500) 4096MB DS (7-7-7-20) 1.5

Re: DPC, ISR issues.

I found the receipt I got for the parts, and the Ram states Patriot Viper DDR3 6GB Kit 1600Mhz LL minus the K, oddly though the other "kit" is a Sector 7.
I'll have to shut down again to find the specific model numbers...if that makes any difference.

Re: DPC, ISR issues.

Well, you can try to remove the three sticks from the black slots and see if the problem remains, and in the meanwhile you can also read the model over them (and see if I correctly detected it).

Re: DPC, ISR issues.

I suppose I should have checked first lol The Patriot labelled ones are PVT36G1600LLK, and the Sector 7's are PV736G1600LLK...I am assuming the Sector 7's are just a cheaper brand of Patriots.
Also not sure if it matters but I don't see XMP printed on the labels.

Re: DPC, ISR issues.

The updated, most recent, QVL P6T-DDR3 QVL list_20091019.pdf, dated 2009/10/20, lists:
- Patriot PVT36G1600ELK (4 sticks/slots)
- Patriot PVT36G1600LLK(XMP) (3 sticks/slots)

Speccy snapshot says:
Type: DDR3
Size: 2048 MBytes
Manufacturer: Patriot Memory
Max Bandwidth: PC3-8500F (533 MHz)
Part Number: 1600LL Series
SPD Ext.: XMP
Hence I supposed you have got 1600LL (the second model) and not 1600EL (the first model).
Notice also that in the first QVL they wrote the PVT36G1600ELK model should have worked in all slots, whereas in the second QVL they wrote it should work in FOUR slots only.
The XMP could mean they tested the PVT36G1600LLK overclocked, to let it work at 1600MHz.
And maybe the three sticks/slots thing is valid when you are using the XMP profile, i.e. when you are overclocking the sticks.
That's probably why you have used them without important problems till now, or some months ago.
Given the similarities, you could also try four sticks/slots, instead of three... But I'd first try with three sticks.

Re: DPC, ISR issues.

Okies, have tried both sets only in orange slots, and still have audio dropout in games, pretty much as soon as I launch them.

Just for laughs, I am going to try removing everything from the Mobo, that's not required, just to see if maybe there's a driver conflict. (I should have done this a long time ago, but must have been too lazy lol)

Re: DPC, ISR issues.

Welp, that was a waste of time, had no effect whatsoever.

I'm still leaning towards an O.S. / Nvidia combo issue, as for a while in the last week I got it to a point where the audio wouldn't drop out, but the audio/video would just stutter, and continue as normal. That is until I updated the Windows Nvidia driver to the one from Nvidia itself.
The current one I am using is the latest from the Zotac site. Which by Nvidia standards is pretty damned old.

Re: DPC, ISR issues.

Was mistaken on the headset driver, it's C-Media. Once enabled I found something interesting. While playing a game, and using the Nvidia HDMI display, but using the C-Media driver for audio, I only get stutters. However, when using the HDMI for both video and audio, the audio drops out completely.

I have stress tested both GPU's, and the CPU recently, and performance is great, heat is not an issue.

Re: DPC, ISR issues.

Are you using xbox or did you use it in the past?
Did you modify any xbox services?
Launch this command from an elevated command prompt (and report the result here):
(sc query xbgm & sc qc xbgm & sc query xblauthmanager & sc qc xblauthmanager & sc query xblgamesave & sc qc xblgamesave & sc query xboxgipsvc & sc qc xboxgipsvc & sc query xboxnetapisvc & sc qc xboxnetapisvc) |findstr /i /c:"state" /c:"start_type" /c:"e_n" /c:"t_t"
Check also the new windows control panel (settings), gaming.
Are all of them enabled?
Did you try to disable all off them?

Did you try to put the steam application in windows defender exclusions?

Did you try to change the startup type of the steam application from manual to automatic?

Re: DPC, ISR issues.

Hi,
To answer your questions, yes I disabled all the gaming items in control panel, with the exception of the xbox.
Steam is on auto, though not sure on excluded.

There are however new developments.

Whilst I had everything disconnected from my mobo, except the bare minimum last night, I tried swapping my 760's for my older 560ti, which changed things slightly, but not enough for my liking.
So then today I proceeded to ( since I am an "insider" ) opt for preview build rather than just drivers.

Well, this evening, there was yet another build waiting to download which surprised the hell outta me, but I said "whatevs" and let it do it's thing.
Lo and behold it had a huge effect on my issue, it seemed to have fixed both the dxgkrnl, and nvlddmkm dpc's for the most part.
Now all I have to research is why I'm getting it with USBPORT, sometimes ntoskrnl, and ataport.

Re: DPC, ISR issues.

Yes, the 16281.1000 OS build has fixed some, but only for the dxgkrnl, and nvlddmkm. I am still seeing high latency (1500ish) for USBPORT mostly, which is often accompanied by ntoskrnl, and ataport.
Though I have read that those three sources are natural, but I still get Latencymon messages in red script.
