I found this forum in the midst of desperation and confusion so I'm thrilled if you can help.
I suppose I have the typical story- Computer does wonky things, SFC, no idea what I'm looking at, etc.
The only issue I'm having is my drop-down menus disappearing including my right click menu to copy and paste words. Also the scroll doesn't work. Of course I immediately did a malbytes scan- It found one bug that I removed. Then I dumped everything I could- temp files, anything I've downloaded in the past two weeks, history, etc. Rebooted. Started the Google search and did the SFC scan. Corrupted files- unable to fix. Google search. Got the log going to try to look for the files. Couldn't really even look at it because my scroll drifts right back up to the top whenever I try to pause on anything. Google search to try to find a command that would narrow it down to SR files (findstr /c:"[SR]" %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log>details.txt) but nothing happened. Mind you I can't copy and paste so I tried this little command 20 different ways typing it out each time. Grrrrr. Nothing.
So here I am with my cbs zip file in hopes that you will take pity on me and help me end the vicious cycle of Googling and tearing my hair out.
At the same time I have no idea what I will do once I find the corrupt files. I don't have a disc or back-ups nor do I have an extra pc sitting around or an external hard drive so I'm not sure where exactly I'm going to get any files that need to be replaced or where I'd put any of my files while I'm futzing around with my old fuddy-duddy-of-a machine. But I suppose I'll flog that horse when I get to it.
TMI?
