I've been having increasing problems for a few months; Finally discovered I had ZeroAccess Root Kit.
Think I'm clean now.

Issues
1.) I have no restore points and in fact, couldn't even make any at one point. I hope that's fixed.
2.) Couldn't DL Windows Updates. Hope that's fixed but don't wanna install in case I need to format.
Also do not want to make anything worse but at least, at this point, the updates *are* being
retrieved.
3.) My Laptop was inordinately hot so tried SpeedFan and hence, BSOD which didn't surprise me.
It's reliable every time.
4.) Started MemTest and reliably every time, my laptop will shot down. The generic EventViewer
is too confusing and I can find no answers other than "Unexpected Shut Down."

I'm sure it's due to the changes one of many helpful utilities I've been trying to use 'helped.'
I've done so much at this point, I have no idea where I begin and the bugs end.

Please help me help myself.

Hi,

If your laptop is shutting down when initiating a Memtest, it implies your RAM is faulty.

Regards,

Patrick

Similar to the two above me, when you run memtest, it is best to try and run it on one stick at a time. Not sure what type of laptop you have, but if you can access your ram try and remove all but one stick. Run memtest on the remaining stick and that will help troubleshoot it. Also, what version of memtest are you running, is it the latest version?
