St Mary's Hospital in London has purchased a digital anatomy table, the first of its kind in Europe.
The same length and size as a normal dissection table, the "cadaver" on the screen of the Anatomage table is a virtual body, created using a mixture of graphics and real CT scans of the body.

Surgeon Aimee Di Marco demonstrated to the BBC how it is changing the way surgeons teach anatomy, and even plan real operations.

Hm, that looks a bit strange to be honest. If I were a medical student, I would much rather dissect the actual body rather than a 3D version on a computer. All the same, it would reduce the number of cadavers needed for research.

If anyone has seen Terra Nova, they take it a step further and perform surgery similarly. The only difference is whatever they do to the virtual body is somehow transferred to the physical body...
