Hello
Two recent windows updates, which were launched together, went bad (KB4556799: failed to install, and KB4552931: never finishes installing). Since then, at some point I could not log into my account (this is now working - at least for now), some programs don't load any more, and various other weird behaviour...
So I ran sfcscannow and it found errors, then DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth but that would not fix the errors it found.
I then tried to point DISM to a local install.wim file obtained from the Windows Media Creation tool, in multiple ways: /Source:win:E:\Sources\install.wim:1 or /Source:E:\Sources\install.wim from a mounted ISO, directly to the file /Source:C:\install.wim... but I always end up getting (in CBS.log) "The alternate source path directory could not be accessed [HRESULT = "0x8007010b" - ERROR_DIRECTORY]" or "[HRESULT = 0x8007007b - ERROR_INVALID_NAME]" or in my latest attempts: "Failed to collect payload and there is nothing to repair. [HRESULT = 0x800f081f - CBS_E_SOURCE_MISSING]".
And by searching around I found a reference to sfcfix. Unfortunately the tool keeps crashing.
Hope you will be able to help...
Many thanks
Laurent
