Hello,

I've been Googling (is that even a word?) for hours to try and resolve this problem. I reinstalled Windows 8 Pro a couple of days ago, but then I remembered about the high DPC problems. I managed to fix it before but I honestly can't remember what I did. I've read plenty of helpful and knowledgeable posts on here so thought I'd register and ask.

I'll list all the hardware connected to my PC:

- ASRock Z68 Pro 3 (I know, old)
- Intel i5 3570K
- 16GB DDR3
- ADATA 120GB SSD SATA3
- Various SATA2 drives
- NO OPTICAL
- Corsair H100i (with USB)
- Corsair K50 Keyboard
- Corsair M40 Mouse
- Philips USB Headset
- 2 x AOC 24" Monitors

I'm using the latest drivers I could find as well as no extra rubbish installed. If you would like verification that I'm using a genuine version of Windows (I read a very funny post earlier regarding a user with pirated Windows and Steam) just let me know what you need.

If you've read this far then thank you, I appreciate it. I do notice crackles and pops when playing games and the high DPC starts right after Windows has booted. I did manage to fix it beforehand, as previously mentioned, with a driver - old age memory!

welcome, piers!

microsoft believes you have "genuine windows" because the product is listed as "windows is activated" on your computer properties screenshot.

have you installed the latest "chipset" drivers for your motherboard?

what is on the usb port?
do you have a gaming mouse or keyboard with extra features (lots of extra buttons?)

I've installed the latest chipset drivers from the ASRock website but those are a little old, I can't seem to find another from the Intel website. The only items on the USB ports are the keyboard, Mouse, H100i Water Cooling and Headset. The K50 is a gaming keyboard so does have extra buttons and so does the mouse. However Windows was working before with the same hardware.

Hi Piers,

This: "Corsair H100i (with USB)" feels like the most likely candidate to me, I'd disconnect the USB part of this and uninstall the software package for it (a quick look at the Newegg feedback suggests the software is buggy) during testing.

Where did you hear about this monitoring program from?
I don't have any issues with my system but it sure appears to if you look at this monitor............
CPU throttling and wireless lan are normal functions it's complaining about on this system.

Good thing I have Win 7 then :)

I have Win 7 too, but my rig may be a little more efficient?

Piers' main issue is "crackles and pops when playing games", if it's not interrupt/DPC -related, it might be EMI/RFI disturbance?

I guess my point is if I'm not having any audio issues on this laptop with readings that look that high are we chasing a ghost with the DPC readings?

I'm not sure of the cause myself, which is why I suggested EMI/RFI as a possibility in my previous post (fits well with "crackles").

From the 3rd pic in the OP, there's a very large hit on USB logged, that would certainly get me digging deep and the H100i is probably the rarest item on USB on that system.

Also noted there was the fact that similar had occurred before and it had been fixed by a driver (change/update).

There's actually a thread on the Corsair forum regarding the H80i/H100i firmware and high DPC latency. I've flashed the latest firmware to the device as well as upgrading to the CorsairLink beta version designed to specifically resolve the DPC issue. I'll keep an eye on it, thank you for the suggestions.

If anyone else has the same problem, as of 17/09/2013 the latest H100i firmware is 1.07 and the latest CorsairLink is 2.4.4948

1.07 Firmware
CorsairLink 2.4.4948

What's your impression of the new firmware/software so far, Piers?

It's a massive improvement over the previous version. Also the firmware update makes a massive difference. In the end I had to format after activation problems (even after being on the phone to Microsoft for over two hours with remote support).

So now I'm seeing high DPC on ndis but it's not really having any effect on audio/video usage that I've noticed so far.
