I have Realtek RTL8811AU Wireless LAN 802.11ac USB 2.0 Network Adapter for a WIFI adapter model # EP-AC1635. Lately it seems to be disconnecting intermittently. Also I haven't been able to get any updates when I run filehippo app manager because of a communication failure error. It might be related. Lastly I was searching online about this problem and I decided to run MiniToolBox and I am not sure if I should post the report that was generated. TIA.

Did you try a different driver or moving it closer to the router?
I think I installed it 10/20/2019. When I did that I saw that the drivers installed looked old (2015) so I installed some generic drivers from realtek (2017). Afterwards I started having the aforementioned problems so I used revo uninstaller to uninstall and the reinstall the drivers and the utility that came with the CD. Although it seems I am still having issues.

Try using it in the same room to see if it makes a difference.
I found this Realtek software/driver for that exact model dated 9-7-2018 - RTL8811AU Software - REALTEK
Install that and see what happens.

OK. So I finally got around to taking the PC to the room where the router (it took some doing) is located and it starts the same way. The one thing I forgot to mention is that when the PC starts the connection to my network states that there is "limited" access. There is essentially no connection for about a minute and then there is full access to the 5G network. This PC is using a Foxconn 2ABF and all USB ports are 2.0. The PC has a built in 802.11n Wireless LAN Card and Ethernet. I have disabled the drivers for both, thinking that the wireless adapter may work better without them. I also purchased the USB wireless adapter because it works on 805.11ac thinking it would make for a better connection to the 5G. I have tried connecting to the 5G with the Wireless LAN card but it never did.
Those are the same drivers I mention in my first post. I think I got the same results when I used the drivers that came with the installation kit.

Well I have upgraded my Windows 7 Ultimate PC to Windows 10 Pro. The adapter seems to connect faster now as far as I can see with Win 10. So it was all very strange. It works better with Win 10 even though the adapter was advertised as being Windows 7 compliant. I guess this is solved.

The problem can be in many ways—even those drivers. You should reinstall them if no one has done it for a long time.
