Recently Windows updated some new updates on my HP TouchSmart Windows 8.1 PC. After the updates I am having problems in using my Bose Companion 5 Speakers with the PC.
1. When I try to use the Bose speakers as default, I am not able to hear any sound from the PC and Windows Media Player gives an error message" Windows Media Player encountered a problem while playing the file". Web Help along with the error message gives "Windows Media Player Error "C00D11B1".
2. I uninstalled and re-installed the USB Audio driver multiple times with no positive result.
3. When I changed the default speaker to the PC's built in speakers, the Windows Media Player plays all media just fine.
4. I unplugged the USB cable of the Bose speakers and plugged it in to my HP Revolve 810 laptop where Windows Media Player was able to play media files and I could get the output through the Bose speakers.
Can I get some help / advice in solving this issue?
