Finnally got round to trying to upgrage wifes computer from windows 7 ultimate to Windows 10 , have tried 4 times to run the upgrade but it keeps sticking at 72%, I ran componentsscanner 32 and not problems found same with SFC . I copied the ssd to a backup and tried to update on the backup so I could easily put her computer back to as she likes it .Updates are up to date
32 bit system.

From Microsoft: The Windows 10 free upgrade through the Get Windows 10 (GWX) app ended on July 29, 2016.
Also: All upgrades must have completed and reached the "Welcome" screen by 11:59 PM UTC-10 (Hawaii) on July 29, 2016; this is one worldwide point in time.
I believe using installation media is still acceptable by MS.

Hello and welcome,

Attach following log files when available:
  • C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\cbs.log
  • C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log
  • C:\Windows\panther\setupact.log
  • C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources\panther\setupact.log
  • C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources\Rollback\setupact.log
  • C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources\Rollback\setupact.err

Every time it got to 72% it sat there for about 2 hours so I cancelled the upgrade

Someone moved this thread from Windows 10. If she previously had Ultimate 10 you should be using an ISO 64 bit not X86(32 bit).

Currently running Windows 7 ultimate x86 and want to update to windows 10 pro x86 so not sure whats going on as heading says it all

? I am trying to update to windows 10 from windows 7 sp1 ultimate x86

Every time it got to 72% it sat there for about 2 hours so I cancelled the upgrade
Don't cancel the upgrade. Leave it running for 24 hours at least. You'll never know if it hangs or is busy.
If it still hangs after 24 hours reboot the machine.
Uninstall "Avast Antivirus" and reboot again.
Try the upgrade again and report the result.

After uninstalling Avast and also Audigy driver it then went through and updated to Windows 10 ,it took all night but finally upgraded
Thanks for the help

This is why many of us suggest not using 3rd party AV/Firewalls. Since Windows 10, they're no longer needed as Windows Security does the job. Glad your upgrade has worked now.
