Hello,
today I solved an issue and I would like to share my findings how to solve it.
After 5 days and nights and doing mostly everything suggested in any forum post I get it fixed very easy.

I have a win 8.1 dell latitude notebook which fails to upgrade to win 10 every time.
I used the MediaCreationTool-win10 kit to create a windows.iso file and after that i burn it to a DVD.
After starting the setup.exe located on the DVD (right click - admin rights) everything seems to be fine.
In a specific state setup locked the screen by switching to a blue full screen mode.
Setup runs further and told me a progress of 23% and stops immediately after that.
Screen goes into desktop mode and a small pop-up window comes up telling me the setup failed with error code 0x80070003

Looking into the setup.err.log file within the C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources gives not realy a hint.
Looking into the setupact.log points me in the right direction

Checked the named folder on D-drive and right - there is no folder anymore like this.
Checked the registry and found the path entry within HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WIMMount and key Imagepath = \??\D:\xyz\Projects\Tools\Win8.1SE\X64\wimmount.sys

After changing the Imagepath to the real wimmount.sys location \??\C:\Windows\System32\drivers\wimmount.sys I started the setup.exe from the DVD again and it WORKS!
After upgrade I checked the entry again and now the value of the key is just system32\drivers\wimmount.sys

I'm not sure if someone else had already posted this to this forum - but maybe it helps someone else going forward with Win10 successfull installation.

Greetings
Andy
