I've been fighting with a family member's computer off and on for 3 months trying to upgrade Windows 7 to Windows 10.

I've finally been able to bring the machine home with me to work on it.

I tried to adapt another post for my needs but I've not been successful so far.
it keeps failing with the "The installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during REPLICATE_OC operation"

I've run FRST64, had KB3035583 in search and clicked "Search Registry" and attached the log.

I've tried running the manual uninstall command KB3035583 (wusa /uninstall /KB:3035583), it failed with "Installer encountered an error: 0x800f0818"

I'm trying to avoid a fresh install of Windows 10, but I'm running out of ideas.

I just recently uninstalled Avast AV from the machine too.

My CBS directory is too large to attach. Gofile - Free Unlimited File Sharing and Storage

Any help you may be able to provide would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Hello and welcome,

Step 1:
Please follow the instructions below as I don't know if the COMPONENTS hive was loaded when you did the FRST64 search.
FRST Registry Search
  1. Click the Start button and choose Control Panel.
  2. In the upper right corner ensure the View by: is set to Category.
  3. Select the Programs group.
  4. Click the Turn Windows features on or off link. This will bring up the Windows Features dialog.
Note: This loads your components hive which is what we want. Please keep this dialog open while you perform the remaining steps. You can minimize it if you wish but keep it open.
  5. Right-click on the file FRST64.exe and choose Run as administrator.
Note: Your antivirus program may report FRST incorrectly as an infection. If so, disable the real-time protection when downloading and running FRST.
  6. Copy and paste KB3035583 into the Search box and click the Search Registry button.
  7. When the scan is complete, a message will display that 'SearchReg.txt' is saved in the same folder FRST was started from. Notepad will open this file also. Close Notepad and attach the file 'SearchReg.txt' to your next reply.
  8. You may close any remaining open windows now.

Step 2:
I just recently uninstalled Avast AV from the machine too.
Which AV program do you currently use ?

Thank you for your reply.

I noticed when I opened the Windows Features dialog, it don't list anything. I've attached the new SearchReg.txt file.

On the machine at the moment, I just have Microsoft Security Essentials.

  1. Download the attachment fixlist.txt and save it to your desktop.

Restart the machine.
Run the command sfc /scannow in an elevated commandprompt and report the result.
If it fails attach the zipped cbs.log to your next reply.
