Having followed the instructions on here for getting help on update problems, I have created the CBS file requested which is here:

Dropbox - CBS.zip

I have a 5 year old Acer Travelmate running Win7 Pro SP1. I've updated the Travelmate with a new SSD. I did a fresh install of Win7 Pro thereon from system recovery disks made using the Acer Recovery Management program after extracting the old HDD, replacing with the new SSD.

I updated using MS Update including IE11 and all was fine until I got a "2018-02 Security Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows 7 for x64-based systems (KB4093118)" which resulted in : Installation Status - Failed, Error code 8024200D

I have run through the MS Fix Windows Update Errors

I have run the MS Windows Update Troubleshooter.

I have sought advice on Bleepingcomputer which has brought me here.

The SFC log is as follows:

SFCFix version 3.0.0.0 by niemiro.
Start time: 2018-05-12 22:32:29.921
Microsoft Windows 7 Service Pack 1 - amd64
Not using a script file.

SFCFix version 3.0.0.0 by niemiro has completed.
Currently storing 0 datablocks.

Hoping for a resolution here. Thank you.

Update failed to install 2018-05 Security Quality Rollup

Update did install Hotfix for Windows (KB947821) and
Definition update for windows Defender.

I look for CBS log under C:\windows\ and I do not find it

..... can I have moved it to the Desktop?? There is an earlier version there.

Thanks, I got it but can't see how to attach it here.

Yes, but windows won't let me open it - says I need to be an Admin which is what I am!! .............. I thought.

When able, do the following:

Install Update with DISM

  1. Download this update and save to your desktop. The file name will be Windows6.1-KB4054518-x64.cab.zip.
  2. Right-click on this file and select Extract All... Click the Extract button. You can close the folder window that opens
  3. Click on the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  4. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator. Go ahead and allow if you receive the UAC prompt.
  5. Copy and paste the following command into the command prompt window and press enter.

    dism /online /add-package /packagepath:%userprofile%\desktop\Windows6.1-KB4054518-x64.cab
  6. You should receive the message:
    The operation completed successfully.
Restart Windows to complete this operation. <---You may not get this line.
Do you want to restart the computer now (Y/N)? <---You may not get this line.

Go ahead and do so if prompted. Let me know what errors if any come up. If you do get errors, please zip/attach your CBS.log

DISM run as advised and it reported 1 error which I failed to take a good note of before rebooting but I can say it looked like it installed a Rollup.

CBS.log here: Dropbox - CBS-2.zip

Thanks again, Jerry
