I was recommended here because of broken servicing stack registration. My computer was tested and found clean, however the update still won't install. It repeatedly says "Retry" after a couple seconds of trying to download it.
Update name and download error-

Hi,

Step 1. Upload a copy of the CBS folder
  • Open Windows Explorer and browse to the C:\Windows\Logs folder.
  • Right-click on the CBS folder and choose Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder.
  • Now the message will appear, "Windows cannot create the Compressed (zipped) Folder here. Do you want it to be placed on the desktop instead?"
  • Click on the Yes button here.

  • Attach the file CBS.zip to your next reply. If the file is too large to attach, upload the CBS.zip file to www.wetransfer.com and post the link in your next reply.

Step 2. Download the

Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop:

Download the 64 bit version: - Farbar Recovery Scan Tool Link
  • Download the attachment fixlist.txt and save it to your desktop.
  • Right-click on FRST.exe and select "Run as administrator".
  • Press the Fix button.
  • When finished, a log called Fixlog.txt will appear in the same directory the tool is run from.
  • Post the logfile Fixlog.txt as attachment in your next reply.

I don't have the option to "send to" even when I look though "more options"

Mmm, that's strange. Please copy the CBS folder to your Desktop, ZIP this folder and attach it to your next reply along with the result of FRST.

Should I be glad it didn't download? the whole IT windows crash because of a faulty update or something. Should I refrain from updating my computer? I mean, i never got the blue screen because it refused to download.

Hi,

That issue had nothing to do with Windows Update, it was an faulty file of Crowdstrike.

But without the CBS logs and the result of FRST I cannot help you further, so please provide the requested files.

listen ever since we started this process my laptop has started to lag to hell. Opening chrome lags now. Is there seriously no other way to do it than using these programs? I don't even know what these programs are doing to my computer, can you 100% verify that this is safe?

All the tools we use here are absolutely safe and reliable, and they are not the cause of any lags you are experiencing!
For now we've just tried to replace some registry values of an out-of-sync Servicing Stack, so this can never be the cause of the lag issues.

So please perform the steps in post #18 and post the result.
