This morning, my plan was to get sp1 installed on my win7 x64. I started out with windows update and i saw the same update getting repeatedly installed.
I then tried installing the sp by hand, which gave me an error saying that the installer could not determine my windows version and that i should run SURT.

After running surt, i got stuck with 4k+ errors :banghead:. I tried about anything in the book and ended up running SURT and SFCFix to get to a point where SURT reports no errors. I then stopped my windows updater service, removed my entire SoftwareDistribution folder (again), rebooted and tried for the best.
The 2 KB's still come up and keep coming up after installation. Also the sp package still can't find my windows version.

I think the first problem to fix, would be the window update issue. The KB's involved are KB3004469 and KB2977759. Installing them seperately has no effect.

Could i get some advice please?

When i run the windowsupdatediagnostic tool, i now get a screen telling me it found a Windows Update error "0x80070003", which it could not fix.

After a lot of hassle, it seems i'm now down to 1 recurring update (KB3004469).

Current situation:
- windows update installs the KB, and keeps finding it to install. WindowsUpdate.Log contains:
2015-12-05 16:43:46:219 556 568 Agent WARNING: Failed to evaluate Installed rule, updateId = {2A1234D0-3E2D-4D9E-AA5E-3430A20EDC11}.100, hr = 80242013
2015-12-05 16:43:47:563 556 568 Agent * Added update {B33ACEC1-3265-4D01-9C37-AC0892E95ED9}.100 to search result
- The KB947821 tool returns a log with no issues, so does SFCFix.exe
- Starting the manually downloaded SP1 update still results in the error "Service Pack 1 setup can't identify the version of Windows on this computer."
- The "windowsupdatediagnostic" tool keeps telling me there's a problem it could not fix (0x80070005)

Hello and Welcome :)

Please run the following script to automatically collect and upload the CBS log files:

SFCFix Script

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

 1. [sfcfixdownload]Download SFCFix[/sfcfixdownload] (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
 2. Download the attached file, SFCFixScript.txt, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFixScript.txt - do not rename it.
 3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
 4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFixScript.txt.
 5. Drag the file SFCFixScript.txt onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
 6. SFCFix will now process the script.
 7. Upon completion, a log should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
 8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this into your next post for me to analyse please - put

tags around the log to break up the text.

Thank you for your reply. I did however did a factory reset since then and struggled through a few hundred updates.
SURT and SFCFix give no issues and i think my laptop is up-to-date now. I even get the 'update to win 10' updates :)
This thread can thus be markes as solved.
