Hello,

I am trying to update a machine from Windows 7 Pro to Windows 10. I have done this procedure on at least 10 machines, with no major issues. I have this one machine that keeps giving me an error 0x800700f -0x20006 Installation has failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during REPLICATE_OC operation.

I have downloaded the Media Creation tool and saved the ISO file on the computer. I then ran the Windows setup. It looks like it completes, but then comes back with the error. I have tried multiple times with the same result.

The machine is a Dell T3610 with a RAID controller. I have 2 1TB drives in a RAID 1 configuration.

Here is what I have done so far. 1) Fully updated BIOS, 2) Fully updated drivers, 3) Fully updated Windows 7, 4) Read through multiple forums, but couldn't find any real solutions, 5) There is more than 500GB of space available on C drive.

I am hoping you can help. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hello and welcome!

Please start by temporarily uninstalling your security software (Symantec) along with Daemon Tools and detach any non-essential hardware that might be plugged in during the upgrade.

If it fails, do a search for setuperr.log and attach it to your reply.

I did what you said and tried to run the upgrade again. Failed with same error. Attached is the only setuperr.log file I could find, which was under c:\$windows.~bt\sources\rollback. Not sure if the one that you were referring to.

I ran your SFCFixScript.txt file and have attached the results (SFCFix.txt). I had a look at the results and did find another setuperr.log file in the c:\windows\panther\newos\panther folder. I have included this file as an attachment as well.

WOW! You are awesome. I checked the logs, and it looks like everything got updated properly this time. I then tried to install Windows 10 again, and IT WORKED! I attached the logs for your review.

I am all good now. Thank you so much for all your help. You are a lifesaver. I was looking at doing a complete reinstall, but you saved a lot of work.

Keep up the great work. I will be donating to your cause.
