I have always been able to double click on an image file in my pc and open it up with d'peg. Although recently I have this problem where I now double click on these files and I get the open file security warning. The dialog box has a box that I always have to untick, it states "Always ask before opening this file" before I click open. How do I stop from having to this every time?

They are jpeg files but I open them using d'view! an old app now discontinued. The files are located in sub folder of the downloads folder.

Try Control Panel (small icons) >security and maintenance >Security and click on windows smart screen change settings. Turn it off.

Let us know.

Borrowed from a post JohnC made at BC.

The message should disappear after your antivirus has scanned your (downloaded?) pictures/images.
You could try to scan also the folder of your program (that opens those files).

I have scanned the folder using Malwarebytes free and did Microsoft offline scan. Still nothing. BTW my Malwarebytes reverted to free version from premium, I think this happened after I noticed the unknown publisher situation. Malwarebytes account hacked?

EDIT:

Now I took a better look at your screenshot here: Unknown publisher

You have a tick beside the option: Always ask before opening this file.

Un-tick and try again.

And just saw your first post. Apologies. You have to un-tick this every time.

You can ignore my previous post.
