I'm currently working on a BSOD thread over at MSFN and I encountered a driver causing problems with allocating memory, anyway I can't find any information on the driver at all.
Anyone know where this is from?

Code:
[B]vsergps.sys[/B]

Generally when you see drivers that Google has no idea about, check the following:

- Is the user foreign? If so, I've seen a lot of Chinese banks and such have their customers use encrypted USB token authentication (and software) that uses really old and problematic drivers.

- Malware.

- Again, foreign devices with really old drivers that never bothered to be updated. What's the info on the driver? Timestamp, etc?

Have the user create a restore point, restart, and then rename the driver from .sys to .bak, and then restart. Best case, nothing blows up. Worst case, something blows up... but we have a restore point!

The OP found out that it belongs to Virtual GPS software.

That was my gut feeling, you know... with gps being in the sys name and all :r1:

How old was the driver?

I was thinking that but I couldn't find anything.

It was from 2009.

Yeah, there you go. FWIW, on 7+, and especially on 8/8.1, any driver pre-2013'ish raises flags for me (with very few exceptions). One I can think of is Creative! Creative's non-beta drivers are dated from 2008. Evidently Creative doesn't have a very good software development team :grin1:

They have a great development team, they're just slow.
