This happened about 2 weeks ago and I have checked every thing that I could think of. I was using a ethernet cable so I got out a new one and changed no difference no internet. Next I reset the modem no change, so I took the new cable and run it to my wifes laptop after I turn the wireless off it had internet the modem was working, I ordered a USB wireless for the desktop got it installed it would not connect unidentified network nointernet access. COULD SOMEONE HELP ME

We need more information about your computer, the OS, if using a router or not.

Have you scanned for malware? Any errors in Device Manager?

I am using a modem from Frontier and it works on wireless and ethernet my OS is Windows 7 Home Premium 3g ram 500g hard drive I have checked for malware but will check again.

I run spybot with anti-virus and it found 31 items I saved a log of want it found and had it fix the items. How do I check Device manager for errors.

Were there some recent repairs or recovery done on this system? You may need to go out to the computer maker's site, search for the specific model number, then download the drivers for it.

Yes I did do a system restore setting the machine back about 3 weeks to where I had no problem it did not help. Should I try and reverse the change?

no I have not done that yet I only have limited use of my wife's computer she does not like me on hers much but I will try today to download them and transfer them to the downed computer. Thank You for your help so far

I think you should have a malware removal expert take a look - just in case. I fear that system is still infected, or the previously found malware cause some significant damage while there, or while being removed. Please follow the instructions found here.
