[SOLVED] Unable to update Windows 10 - Error 0x8007007e

Hi all,

as many other users in this Forum I am facing the update error 0x8007007e for month.
I guess I would also Need your help with SFCFix Script.

This is what I get from

Dism /online /Get-Drivers:

I also attached the C:\Windows\Logs\DISM\DISM.log.

Further I attached the servicing.txt from:

cmd /c dir /s /A %systemroot%\servicing\version >"%userprofile%\desktop\servicing.txt"​

I tried to fix the Problem by my own following the Information from Windows 10 Upgrade fails with error 0x8007007e and Windows Updates fail with code 0x8
but I did not manage it.

As far as I understood I have to replace the files in the Folder:

WinSxS\amd64_microsoft-windows-servicingstack_31bf3856ad364e35_10.0.16299.245_none_16ec1d963212a637

but I did not find the KB MSU for my Windows Version.

Hello and welcome!

SFCFix Script

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
2. Download the file below, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
6. SFCFix will now process the script.
7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please - put
   tags around the log to break up the text.

Afterwards, try running DISM again and let me know if it completes successfully.

As far as I understand, you replaced all files in the

C:\WINDOWS\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-servicingstack_31bf3856ad364e35_10.0.16299.245_none_16ec1d963212a637

Folder.
This is what I wanted to do manually, but I didn't find that files in the Internet. Where did you get them for the case I have to help others?

Great!

I googled the version number and then found out the KB number that contained the servicing stack update (SSU) we needed. In this case, it was KB4087256. So I downloaded it, extracted it and wrote a script to replace the existing copy of the folder with a good copy.
