[SOLVED] Unable to update Windows 10 by any means

I have spent the past few days attempting to update Windows 10 Home to the latest version without any success. I was stuck on Version 1903 but managed to do a full reset and boot off a USB to Version 1909, but the problem still persists.

The Windows updater attempts to install update KB5003169, but upon restarting there is a message that the update failed and the computer will be restored to the previous version. The settings give the error code 0x800f0922.
I have also tried using Windows Media Creation Tool both to upgrade my system directly to version 22H2, and to install the version to a USB and boot it from there but neither solution works.

I have used SFC /scannow and Dism cleanup without any success. I have attached the CBS folder and Components Scanner file.

Any help is appreciated.

Hi and welcome to Sysnative,

Did you forcibly removed Microsoft Edge (Edge Chromium) from this system with a tweak tool?

I uninstalled it from the windows settings then ran a tweak tool later to find driver updates, but I had the Windows Update issue before I did that.

Download the
577bf0efb8088-FRST.png
Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop:

Download the 64 bit version: - Farbar Recovery Scan Tool Link

  • Note: Your antivirus program may report FRST incorrectly as an infection. If so, disable the real-time protection when downloading and running FRST.
  • Right-click to run the tool as administrator. When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  • Note: Ensure that the Addition.txt check box is checked at the bottom of the form within the Optional Scan area.
  • Press the Scan button.
  • Please wait for the tool to finish. It will produce two logfiles called FRST.txt and Addition.txt in the same directory the tool is run from (which should be the desktop)
  • Post the logfiles FRST.txt and Addition.txt as attachment in your next reply.

The first time I tried downloading the update after installing Edge and restarting my whole computer froze before the update was fully downloaded. After that I was able to install KB5003169 which is an update for Windows 10 version 1909. I then tried to install the feature update to version 22H2 which failed with error code 0xc1900101.

Download and run SetupDiag from Microsoft
  • Download
    60e45c659164d-SetupDiag.png
    SetupDiag to your desktop.
  • Right-click on SetupDiag.exe and select Run as administrator.
  • When completed the following files are created: "Logs.zip, SetupDiag.exe.config and SetupDiagResults.log"
  • Attach SetupDiagResults.log and Logs.zip to your next reply.

I tried using SetupDiag previously but whenever I ran it a command window would appear and disappear quickly without doing anything, but by running in through Command Prompt and changing the output file I was able to run it. I have attached the output files.

The update failed again, although I can not see it from the windows settings. The settings say "Your device is missing important security and quality fixes." and had a button to check for updates but after searching for updates nothing happens. I have been manually attempting to update to 22H2 from this page Download Windows 10. The update history does not show any attempt at updating.

Hi,

I would suggest to update your BIOS first, you can find the latest version here.

Rich (BB code):
Manufacturer = Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd.
    Model = AB350M-HD3
    HostOSArchitecture = x64
    FirmwareType = UEFI
    BiosReleaseDate = 20180213000000.000000+000

I am not sure which version to install, I tried the latest one and got a notification that it was not suitable for my PC.

I would suggest to start a new thread here: Hardware to get advise from an hardware expert, and post a link to this thread as well.
