Hi I'm currently running Windows 8.1 x64 (Build 9600). I'm trying to update to Windows 10. However, when I try to run the Get Windows 10 program, it inevitably gets stuck at "Starting download."

I've tried rebooting numerous times, even tried running the "Fix problems with Windows Update" troubleshooting app (which stalled the first time I ran it-- got stuck on stopping BITS service-- but worked after a reboot), to no avail.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

It probably has nothing to do with your computer....
I have had the same problem with both WS2008-R2 & W7 on my computer, and W7 on another.

Today i finally managed to download and install the updates, about 600 MB for a fresh W7-installation.
It took 4 days (and nights)....!?

Hi hackerman1. I appreciate your input. :)
But I'm not sure what fresh Windows 7 installation has to do with anything? I'm trying to update from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10.

Anyways, attaching relevant logs.

I couldn't attach CBS.zip to this post. Forum said "Remote file is too large." So I threw it up on my hosting instead:

Hopefully that's not an issue.

"fresh W7-installation" ?

I only tried to explain why i download that much....
600 MB should take an hour or two, not 4 days....

Also, take a look in the forum, there are several other "new" threads about update-problems.

Hi bingarbage -

Welcome to Sysnative and sorry for the delay. If you are still in need of assistance, please let me know.

OK, no problem. Please do the following so I can gather some info.

1. Right-Click your Start button and select Command Prompt (Admin). Answer Yes to the UAC prompt if it comes up.
2. Type or copy/paste the following into the command-prompt and hit enter.
set > 1 && notepad 1

3. Notepad will open with some text. Please paste this into your next reply.

OK, let's try the following then. Please download the Media Creation Tool and run it. Make sure you select Download tool now.
Accept the terms if prompted.
Select to create media for another PC.
Choose ISO file and save this ISO file to your desktop.

Let me know when it's complete.

Great. Now do the following.

1. Right-click on the ISO file and select Mount.
2. Now when you open file explorer you should see a new Drive Letter labeled with the name ESD-ISO or something similar.
3. If you double-click this you will see a setup.exe. Please double-click this and then follow the prompts to upgrade your PC.

Let me know how you get on.

Thanks.
