Good morning,

I am unable to start Windows on my laptop. It will always be stuck at the black screen.
I am however, able to start my laptop in Safe Mode after force shutting my laptop and pressing F8 followed by F5 at the BSOD.

Hi Xenocide.

Try to:
- remove daemon tools
- remove razer
- disable all the startup programs

Hi xilolee,

Pardon me asking, I have been using daemon tools and razer for more than 2 years with no issues. How does removing them help in solving my startup problems?

If you don't try, you won't know.

Another thing to try is to open Windows settings, click update and security, click recovery, click restart now, click troubleshoot, advanced options, click automatic repair.
Or press shift key on your keyboard while restarting Windows, click troubleshoot, advanced options, click automatic repair.

The same option should also be present in windows repair/installation cd.

Hi xilolee,

I have removed daemon tools and razer and disabled all startup programmes but the BSOD still exists.
I am only able to boot in Safe Mode at the moment.

I have also tried to do the automatic repair but a BSOD also occurs.

I cannot repair Windows from a USB stick as well because a BSOD will occur.

I also cannot boot from a USB stick that has Windows created in it.

Need some help with this.
Greatly appreciated.

Did windows 10 ever work on your laptop?
I saw dell says it was not tested on your laptop.
I also don't know how you could have a more updated bios (A14) than the one it's available (A07).
Did you clean the interior of your laptop (removed the dust and applied a new layer of thermal compound on the cpu)?
If not, you could try that.
If you don't know how to do it, bring your laptop to your preferred computer repair shop or ask a friend that can do it.

You can also consider a complete virus scan, for example with kaspersky rescue disk (click) (it needs to be burned to a cd, or in a USB key - more complicated).

Hi xilolee,

My BIOS (A14) is the latest version from Dell as seen here:
Alienware 17 System BIOS Driver Details | Dell Singapore

In addition, Windows 10 has been working ever since the free upgrade was rolled out (from July 2015).

I was redirected from the virus section of this forum once my computer is cleared of Malware and Viruses.

My local computer repair shop is charging me $50 just for dignostics and that is gonna be my last option.

Anyone out there that knows how to solve this problem please lend me a hand.

Thanks!

In the DELL forum it seems an R5 version exists...
Alienware 17: Support for Alienware 17 | Dell US

All M17X pages says Product not tested for Windows 10 upgrade.
This doesn't mean I don't believe you and it doesn't mean that windows 10 mustn't work, according to Dell.
It just means they want you spend money for new hardware. ;-)

BIOS A07 is the latest for R1, BIOS A10 is the latest for R2, BIOS A12 is the latest for R3 and R4.
According to what you wrote, i.e. alienware M17X without saying the release you have got, I must assume your laptop model is M17X R1.
Therefore the latest BIOS version for your laptop should be A07.
Maybe you should check better and confirm the model number/code of your laptop, to not confuse who's trying to help you (or other people that will try later).

And now I have also read your other threads: I still suggest you to run a full antivirus scan, off of windows (using Kaspersky cd or another bootable virus cd of your choice, possibly by a well known and reputable antivirus company).

as the Malware might be removed now, critical Section in DCOM and Winlogon GDI.. are broken so only the bare Win10 can boot.

Without a dump you never provided it is a endless story, even with a small minidump there is too much broken ,

the onliest solution, do a clean install with Win10, nothing else is possible^^
