Hello,

First time posting, I hope I won't make any mistakes.

I've recently installed Windows 7 Ultimate on a newly bought HDD and I'm unable to perform updates.

I've seen in a similar thread that the fix for that particular problem should not be applied to any other problems, so I'm posting my own log file (please find it attached).

I'd greatly appreciate any help for this.

Thanks in advance!

Hello,

Many thanks for the response. Unfortunately, the link you've provided does not work, the following page is opened: http://%3Cu%3E%3Cb%3E%3Cfont%20color%3D%22/#0000FF">Here</font></b></u>

I'm looking forward to a new download link.

Thanks again for your help!

Hello,

Please find attached the required logs (copied after installing the SURT).

Note that the issue is still present, I'm still unable to perform updates.

Thanks,

Hello Picuic,

That looks a lot better now, no more file corruptions are detected.

Code:
Found 12 errors
 Fixed 12 errors

Can you try windows updates again please?

Alex

Hello Alex,

Thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately, the updates are still not working, the same problem persists.

Any other ideas?

Thanks again for your help.

Hello again,

I just performed the steps (made sure to replace %SystemRoot% with C:\Windows) and tried to update, but it still doesn't work.

As a side note, there were no messages displayed when running the 2nd and 3rd commands (is that normal?). I also restarted the PC after completing the steps.

Thanks,
Dragos

Hello Dragos,

The System automatically changes %systemroot% to C:\Windows, it s a pre-set environmental variable. It is normal for no messages to appear after renaming the folder

What we will do now is please run Windows Update's again (They will most likely fail, but I want to get some exact error messages)

Once the updates have been attempted to be ran please do the following.

Windows Update log

  1. Click on the Start button. Inside the search box enter in the following command and press Enter.
    cmd /c copy %windir%\WindowsUpdate.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\WindowsUpdate.txt"
  2. Please go to your desktop and upload WindowsUpdate.txtto OneDrive or Dropbox and provide the link back here.

Hello again,

Somehow (aliens, maybe) I managed to fix the problem - I "searched for updated" until it told me that I have to shut down my PC and install updates, did that and after it was finished, I was able to automatically download and install the rest of them.

Thanks so much for all the help, I couldn't have done it without your help!

Best wishes,
Dragos
