Hi,

I'm trying to install the March 2022 cumulative update (KB5011503) on a Server 2019 machine but the installation has failed several time with the error 0x80073712. Manually downloading and installing the update file from Microsoft Update Catalog gives me the same result. Running CHKDSK and SFC scans came back fine. However running dism /online /cleanup-image /checkhealth gives the message 'Error: 0x800f081f The source files could not be found.'. Any ideas what may be causing the issue and how to fix it?

Many thanks in advance.

Hi and welcome to Sysnative,

  • Open Windows Explorer and browse to the C:\Windows\Logs folder.
  • Right-click on the CBS folder and choose Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder.
  • Now the message will appear, "Windows cannot create the Compressed (zipped) Folder here. Do you want it to be placed on the desktop instead?"
  • Click on the Yes button here.

  • Attach the file CBS.zip to your next reply.

Thank you for your quick response.

The logs are too large to upload so please click on the link below to download the logs:

Hi,

Due to the number of corruptions (133), I'll provide the fix in multiple batches, this is the first one.

  • Save any work you have open, and close all programs.
  • Download the attachment SFCFix.zip and save it to your desktop.
  • Drag the SFCFix.zip file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it.

Do you happen to know what could have caused the corruption?

Hi,

Do you happen to know what could have caused the corruption?
All corruptions are related to KB4598230, so something went wrong with this update..

Here is the second fix to replace corrupted files.
Drag the attached SFCFix.zip file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it. (as described in post#4)
Post the logfile (SFCFix.txt) as attachment in your next reply.
