Unable to install printer driver

When attempting to install a Brother printer driver (MFC-9325CW) I get the following error message:
Feature Remote Setup
Component: RemoteSetup_System
<WINSYSDIR>\
Error: The filename, directory name or volume label syntax is incorrect
Fairly sure that if I could remove the symbols around "WINSYSDIR", the driver would install. Been fighting this for weeks, and am frustrated.
I can't locate the file or folder noted in the error message.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

My OS is Windows 10 Pro. The printer driver was downloaded from the Brothers support website.
Thank you for looking. So far I haven't had much luck with the "professional" websites, they say
uninstall, and reinstall, windows 10 pro, which I've done to no avail. Plus, I've tried everything
to find the file or folder, again to no avail.

I appreciate your suggestion, however, what you have suggested is exactly what I have been doing off and on for the last three weeks. There is something to be said about doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different
result. The error message I attached came from doing what you suggested. I'm hoping someone on this forum has encountered the same thing and can give me some guidance as to how to overcome this issue. Thanks again for at
least providing some recognition of the problem.

Try using the Windows add printer feature, but only download the driver(s). If this works, and you really want the rest of the package, get it later.

First look at this and see if there are any weird characters in the directory name

Then did you download this?

and go through the Add a printer through the devices and printers?

the screenshot is from Win 7 because I don't run Windows 10.

When you first run the installer, look at the first (or whichever window that gives the path) window that pops up. Does it ask you what path you want to install to? What is that path exactly?
